Hungary-Serbia Railway Serbia Section Fully Opened With Advanced Track Components
Nov 29, 2025| On October 3, local time, the Hungary-Serbia Railway (Serbia section from Novi Sad to Subotica, "Novi-Su Section") officially commenced operations. The travel time between Belgrade and Subotica has been reduced from over 5 hours to just 1 hour 19 minutes, significantly improving regional connectivity.
The Hungary-Serbia Railway, connecting the capitals of Belgrade and Budapest, is a flagship project of China–Central and Eastern Europe cooperation. It utilizes Chinese high-speed rail technology and equipment and complies with EU Railway Interoperability Standards (TSI). The line spans 341.7 km, with the Serbia section covering 183.1 km at a design speed of 200 km/h and the Hungary section covering 158.6 km at 160 km/h. The newly opened Serbia segment (Novi-Su Section) includes 108.1 km of track and 12 stations.
Modern Railway Track Components Ensure Safe, High-Speed Operation
The safe and reliable operation of the Serbia section depends heavily on advanced railway track components and railway fastening systems. High-quality elastic rail clips, PR series rail clips, SKL series rail clips, e-clips, rail fasteners, rail joint bars, and tie plates have been installed along the line to ensure precise track alignment, vibration resistance, and long-term durability. These rail fastening solutions are critical for supporting high-speed train operation while maintaining safety and passenger comfort.
Technology Transfer and Local Development
Since 2018, during construction and operational collaboration on the Serbia section, Chinese and Serbian teams conducted extensive high-speed rail technology exchanges and training, equipping local engineers with expertise in rail clip installation, rail fastening systems, and track maintenance. Local employment opportunities were created, and regional procurement of construction materials promoted industrial development along the corridor.
The deployment of advanced rail clips, elastic fasteners, and comprehensive railway track components ensures not only structural stability and reduced maintenance but also supports the seamless integration of Chinese railway technology with European standards, reinforcing the long-term safety and reliability of the line.
The opening of the Serbia section of the Hungary-Serbia Railway demonstrates how modern railway track components, elastic rail clips, PR/SKL/e-clips, and rail fastening systems are essential for high-speed rail efficiency, safety, and sustainable operations. This milestone strengthens regional connectivity, fosters economic growth, and highlights the role of reliable railway track infrastructure in international high-speed rail projects.
