4th Anniversary Of China-Laos Railway: Efficient Operations & Golden Corridor Impact
Nov 01, 2025| Since its official opening in December 2021, the China-Laos Railway, connecting Kunming, China, and Vientiane, Laos, has operated safely and stably for four years, gradually developing into an important international railway corridor linking China and Southeast Asia. Over the past four years, while continuously improving its passenger and freight transport capacity, the China-Laos Railway has placed higher demands on railway infrastructure construction, track system stability, and the application of railway products.
To date, the China-Laos Railway has completed over 72.5 million tons of freight transport, with the types of cross-border transported goods expanding to over 3,800; and has transported over 62.5 million passengers. Under high-density, long-cycle operation conditions, the railway line has placed long-term demands on the reliability of railway track components, railway fastening systems, and elastic fasteners.
Busy Freight Transport
High-Intensity Operation Places Higher Demands on Railway Fastening Systems
In cross-border freight transport on the China-Laos Railway, Southeast Asian fruits, especially durian, have become an important category for railway cold chain transportation. This year, over 160,000 tons of durian have been imported via the China-Laos Railway, a year-on-year increase of 51.5%. Under high-frequency, heavy-load transport conditions, railway lines are placing higher standards on the fatigue performance and stable clamping force of elastic track structures, rail fasteners, and elastic rail clips.
With the upgrading of refrigerated containers and the regular operation of the Lancang-Mekong Express international freight train, railway transport efficiency is continuously improving. Meanwhile, the elastic rail fasteners, rail connectors, and rail clips used in the track system play an irreplaceable role in ensuring track gauge stability, reducing vibration, and extending the service life of the line.

Passenger Transport Continues to Boom
A safe and stable track structure is the foundation of high-quality service.
Since the launch of international passenger trains on the China-Laos Railway, cross-border travel demand has continued to grow. Currently, the number of international passenger trains between Kunming and Vientiane has increased to four per day. The increased train density places higher demands on line safety and comfort, which relies heavily on the long-term support of high-quality railway track products and a mature railway fastening system.
Under mixed operation conditions of high-speed and conventional trains, elastic rail clips effectively absorb vibrations and maintain track stability, providing passengers with a smoother and safer travel experience.

Accelerated Development Along the Line
Railway Products and Infrastructure Jointly Unleash Regional Value
Relying on the China-Laos Railway, Yunnan and the regions along the line are accelerating the construction of a railway economic belt, with industrial agglomeration effects gradually emerging. The railway not only drives the development of logistics, trade, and tourism, but also promotes the increasing demand for railway track equipment, railway fastening systems, and track accessories in international railway projects.
As the China-Laos Railway continues to unleash its corridor value, the demand for rail clips, railway fasteners, and customized track products that meet international standards will further expand.
In the four years since its opening, the China-Laos Railway has become a vital international railway artery connecting China and Southeast Asia. Its safe, efficient, and long-term stable operation is inseparable from high-standard railway infrastructure construction and a reliable railway product system. In the future, as regional connectivity deepens, railway track products and fastening systems will continue to play a crucial supporting role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of international railway lines.
