How to detect the quality of rail clip fasteners

Apr 06, 2023|

Rail clips are one of many railway accessories. Spring fastener manufacturers introduce that the track mainly includes steel rails, sleepers, connecting parts, ballast beds, anti-climbing equipment and turnouts.

As an integral engineering structure, the track is laid on the subgrade, plays a guiding role in the operation of the train, and directly bears the huge pressure of the rolling stock and its load.

Under the action of the train running, the various components of the rail clip must have sufficient strength and stability, so as to ensure the safe, stable and uninterrupted operation of the train at a relatively high speed.

The role of rail clip fasteners is undeniable, but in order to ensure the quality of the clip fasteners and to play an ideal role in the application, in addition to being extra cautious in the production process, quality inspections are also required.

As an important part of the rail clip fastener, the clip also needs to be inspected for quality. Surface quality, no obvious indentation and creases are allowed on the small curved part of the elastic strip. There should be no visible cracks and burrs affecting the later use on the surface of the spring. Slight indentations and burrs are allowed to be repaired with grinding tools to smooth the surface of the clip, and clips with visible cracks are unqualified.

The external dimensions and the external dimensions of the elastic strips are tested with the measuring mold. If the elastic strips can be freely placed in the testing mold, it is qualified. If the inspection fails, a second sampling re-inspection can be carried out. It is a qualified product, otherwise the production should be stopped immediately, and the solution should be taken after the cause is found out.

For hardness, use a Rockwell hardness tester with a reading accuracy of HRC0.5 to test the hardness of the elastic strip. The average hardness is within the range of HRC 42-47.
